As spams can be traced via aliases, addresses, redirects, locations of servers, domains and dns setups, to a hard-core group of around 100 known spam operations, almost all of whom are listed in the ROKSO database.
No wonder spam volumes drop more than 70% when one major web hosts was shut down on Tuesday (Nov 11, 2008).
According to the news, experts say the precipitous drop-off in spam comes from Internet providers unplugging McColo Corp., a hosting provider in Northern California that was the home base for machines responsible for coordinating the sending of roughly 75 percent of all spam each day.
