It was kinda dilemma for me to pick on which side to stand for HostMonster. Personally, I enjoy every moment I have with HostMonster. The website you’re reading now (WebHostingSecretRevealed.com) is hosted on HostMonster and I have no problem in using them. I’m happy with their customer supports, affordable pricing, unlimited offer in disk storage and bandwidth, as well as the server uptime.
However, after some research online, I found some unhappy HostMonster customers who complain about their over-sensitive scam alert. I also read a HostMonster ex-customer who complains about his/her account being closed down for no reason. Was that an attack from the competitors, or… ? I can’t be sure.
So, here it goes, I’m listing the good and the bad things about HostMonster here and I’ll let you decide yourself.
Host unlimited site in one hosting account
The top reason why HostMonster’s deal attracts me is that they are offering unlimited disk storage, bandwidth transfer, and number of addon domain. In other words, you can host ALL YOUR WEBSITES in just one single web hosting account with as little as $6.95/mo.
Free domain name for life
HostMonster customers will get a free domain name when they sign up their hosting account for one or two years. More over, this domain name will be free for life as long as you are hosting it with BlueHost. For example that you register your domain for 10 years with Godaddy, you will save roughly 10 x $10 = $100 instantly on domain registration fees.
Positive feedbacks from real customer – ME!
I have been hosting websites and making my living on Internet for more than 7 years and I have no problem with HostMonster at all. In fact I was recommending HostMonster to my friends and families before I research other customer’s feedbacks. So there you go, as a real customer of HostMonster, I am giving positive (very!) feedbacks on their service and would recommend the service to all webmasters. *Updates: I was quite upset with Hostmonster customer supports lately and had covered the full story in my blogpost. All in all, I’m cutting down my good words with Hostmonster as I find their staffs irresponsible. The web hosting service is still cheap and reliable; but they totally lost my points in customer support. My suggestion for Hostmonster’s substitution: WebHostingPad and FatCow (cheap) or Hostgator (reliable).
Possible drawbacks on HostMonster
From my opinion, the only drawback that you should worry is HostMonster Scam/Verification department.
Although there’s complaint about HostMonster over-reacted scam policies but that’s just the story from one party. It might (very possible) that HostMonster is doing the right thing in preventing scams and information abuse – who knows? Or would it be an attack from the competitors (since their business is growing fast)? I’ll leave this for you to decide; let’s have a look on HostMosnter features now.

Conclusion: Is HostMonster recommended?
Hostmonster might not be at the top of their game; as there are few complaints on the server uptime and their over sensitive spam alert. However from my recent experience, Hostmonster had improved a lot and they are doing not that bad. Hostmonster is recommended by me. However to be fair, please be reminded that some other webmasters do not feel the same and they think Hostmonster is not reliable – the decision is in your hand.
