In laymen’s terms, MODx helps even regular individuals manage content on their websites simply, quickly and intuitively. For reference, here are some well-known websites that are currently implementing MODx:

Installation requirements

MODx works well on a great number of platforms, including Linux x86, Linux x86-64, Mac OS X, and Windows XP, Windows Server. Generally, it can works in most hosting plans available in the market and there’s no need of worries on the supports.

What I think about MODx?

One good thing about MODx is that it is highly flexible. MODx does not force you into awkward and confusing blocks-this or channels-that templating engines or layout rules; rather, everything with MODx is smooth flowing and you’ll get lots of freedom in customizing your MODx website. Also, MODx is one of the first CMS that enables SEO-friendly URL configuration – this helps MODx users’ SEO efforts by making it easier to adjust meta-content of your site on a per-page basis.

Unfortunately, there are not many web hosts that support auto-installation for MODx. So far I only tried two, Bluehost and Hostmonster (these two are managed by the same company), where MODx CMS can be installed automatically via SimpleScripts. Perhaps this is the only reasons why they are still not as widely use as Joomla and Drupal.
