Make your guess: Which hosting service is most demanded among Lunarpages, Hostgator, and Bluehost?
The answer? Bluehost (based on Google Insights ).

The result is not that big surprise as I already learned that Bluehost’s hosting the most domains among the three. The company (Bluehost) is in fact knocking on the door of 1,000,000 domain on early April.
However, not everything’s as I expected.
Surprise 1: Lunarpages is falling pretty behind
I am very surprise to see that Lunarpages were not much searched outside United States. Lunarpages’s hosting plan is the cheapest when compare to the other two; but they are the less popular.
| Host | Disk Storage | Bandwidth | Price | Addon domain | Free domain? |
| BlueHost | Unlimited | Unlimited | $6.95 | Unlimited | Yes |
| Hostgator | 600 GB | 6,000 GB | $7.95 | Unlimited | Yes |
| LunarPages | Unlimited |
Unlimited |
$4.95 | Unlimited | Yes |
All three hosting services are as good with excellent server uptime and loadspeed, top notch customer supports, and features-rich hosting plan. But why Lunarpages is losing so much ground in the International market? I couldn’t come up with any reason except that Hostgator and Bluehost are doing a better job in branding.
Anyhow, I expect they will be catching up fast as I see some good marketing moves around Lunarpages such like the recent fall promotions (unlimited bandwidth/storage at $4.95/mo) and WP themes designs .
Surprise 2: Asia countries are taking over the top spots

We can see that English is still the dominant language around the Internet, but the country searching for hosting services are shifting fast from the west to east.

A quick view on the top 10 country list, you’ll see how welcomed is Hostgator and Bluehost in the Asia countries.
Singapore, with a population of 4 millions plus, actually contribute more searches on Bluehost/Hostgator than in United States!
The other Asia countries in the top 10 list are Taiwan, China, Malaysia, India, and Hong Kong. That’s 6 out of the top 10.
Ireland, New Zeland, and Canada are the other three in the list.
Hostgator, Bluehost, or Lunarpages?
So who’s the best web hosting?
The popularity check shows nothing but the business’s global reach of the hosting companies. Being popular doesn’t mean that being the best; being unpopular doesn’t mean that the service is lousy either.
My recommendation remains the same where I think Bluehost and Lunarpages are the best for budget/multiple domain hosting; while Hostgator remains top in reseller hosting service provider.
Oh by the way, Lunarpages is the only that’s offering special promotion right now. Get unlimited addon domain, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited disk storage with just $4.95/mo! Can’t believe this is true? Then why not have a look at their website yourself.

A nice article. I love it because I myself use hostgator and its nice to see the comparision.
Also one aspect which should be taken into account is customer service. I have been a LunarPages customer (for my personnal site and my employer’s site) and moved away from them (to Bluehost) because of:
1-Very unprofessional service from LunarPages :
a-Physical move of the server and change of the IP address (6 hours downtime). The customer get a 24 hours notice, when this move, was planned weeks ago I believe. 24 hours man…with all the consequences when you are hosting mail, website, provide FTP accounts and manage your own DNS. THIS IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE.
b-they take down your site arbitrary when they think you have a script slowing the whole (shared server)…when finally it turns out not to be the case. So they cut your website AND email without any notice to the customer…..
2-Censored user forum. When reporting the above issue, my posts got removed by a forum admin. Obviously they do not want customers to report issues on the forum….this remind me some dictatorship around the world.
So my advice is stay away from LunarPages.

@Ced:
That sounds terrible. I had never host a forum with Lunarpages before but so far the sites (a few of them, some owned by my brother) are doing good.
Thanks for sharing, I’m sure it helps the readers make a wiser choice here.
i think you have give wrong information about hostgator package bro… Hostgator Disk Storage and Bandwidth was unlimited too
You are right Fadli, Hostgator’s offer is now unlimited too. The post was published 2 years ago thus the info is outdated. For latest review please check: http://www.webhostingsecretrevealed.com/web-hosting-review-hostgator/
