10 things you don’t know about Hostgator

Hostgator is a big name in web hosting industry and knowing about big names is always fun, i.e. you find something new, unusual, sometimes entertaining and other times shocking.

Here’s a list I’ve complied. May be you knew some of the facts, but you didn’t know all of them for sure.

Note that there’s nothing serious here and if you’re looking for shopping guides, you should be here instead for my personal reviews on Hostgator.

  3. Till April 2008, there’re about 200 employees in Hostgator’s Houston Office.
  4. A major part of Hostgator’s support is outsourced.
  5. Hostgator doesn’t only advertise on digital media/internet, but sufficient efforts are made in print media and trade publications as well.
  6. Founder/President Brent Oxley.
  7. Hostgator is visited by about 471,773 US visitors each month.
  8. Hostgator hosts about 1,000,000 sites.
  9. Hostgator is often awarded as the best service provider for ’Reseller Hosting Account’. (so yeah, this means many small hosting company are just borrowing Hostgator’s equipment and resell it online).
  10. Hostgator slogan: We eat up the competition.
