Hello Luke, thanks for taking this interview with us. Before we start, allow me to congratulate JustHost for achieving such a huge success in such a short time. There were dozens of ‘Best Hosting Awards’ won and I am sure you guys have been working really, really, hard for that.

Alright, let’s kick start our interview with some introduction. Please tell us more about yourself and JustHost.

Well my name is Luke Kendall and I am product manager here at JustHost. This means it is my job to communicate with our customers and business partners in order to expand our services further and continue growing our brand. From Google ad credits to JustHost’s template monster partnership – we at JustHost are constantly working to give our customers more than any other web hosting provider can.

How JustHost’s ‘Anytime Money Back Guarantee’ works? How can a customer like me benefit from this policy?

When you sign up with a leading web hosting provider you will usually be offered some type of money back guarantee. This is great for individuals who don’t necessary know what to expect when they sign up, with a money back guarantee the customer’s purchase is risk free. For the majority of hosts this will be 30 days and some even 45 days but with JustHost you can claim a full or pro-rata refund when you cancel your account.

Wow, this makes me feel absolutely safe when spending money at JustHost. Wouldn’t such policy hurt the business? Are you guys seeing a lot of cancellation?

We certainly expected to see the refund rate increase which it did however in comparison with the increase in signups we actually come out better off. At the end of each year our renewal rate is through the roof since those who did not get what they needed from hosting left us months ago. JustPlan and JustPlan Premium are both shared hosting packages and I don’t see any other standard hosting packages offered from your website. What if existing JustHost customers need to upgrade to VPS or dedicated hosting? Is custom hosting plan an option at JustHost?

Here at JustHost we primarily work with shared servers, in fact that is all we offer on the website. If a customer out grows their shared servers and wants something more we will organize a dedicated server. This is not something that we wish to focus on yet however we do wish to expand sometime in the near future.

Let’s talk about the servers and data centers. What can we know more about the technology behind JustHost hosting?

JustHost’s data center currently houses over 2,000 servers, virtually all shared hosting.

Each server runs on cPanel plus we install the latest version of the Fantastico suite on each. This means our customers have access to the most up to date version of scripts like WordPress, Joomla and Oscommerce etc. Each servers is monitored around the clock by our in-house monitoring servers and the data center is manned 24/7 too so that we can respond to server issues any time of the day or night.

Overselling seems like a norm nowadays and I see unlimited hosting offers everywhere. JustHost users for example, get unlimited bandwidth, disk storage, and addon domain at just $3.95/mo. should shoppers be concerned with overselling?

Yes shoppers should be concerned and should make their web hosting choice carefully!

Some “hosts” offer web hosting for less than $2 each month, anything less than $3 and you have yourself an over seller! We are strictly against over-selling besides we have too much to risk by overselling our servers, with our anytime money back guarantee we soon wouldn’t have any customers left!

I read tons of positive reviews about JustHost but I do see some customers are unhappy with the lack of phone support at JustHost. How would you response to such complaints?

JustHost is currently employing 10 new technicians who are being trained specifically to take calls over the phone. If a customer requires a call all they need to do is ask and we will gladly assist.

    Luke Kendall, have you anything to say about the thousands of customers who have had their accounts suspended for apparently using over 10% of your CPU?

    LK: No comment.

    Luke Kendall, you say you’re the best web hosting company and one of the cheapest, but we looked into the details. You charge extra for almost everything else which a lot of other hosting companies include as pretty much standard which actually puts you amongst the more expensive budget hosting companies.

    LK: Earm… no comment.

    Luke Kendall, what exactly is it you hate so much about streaming media, enough so that you suspend people’s accounts that they paid years upfront for, simply for having a couple of streaming MP3′s?

    LK: Well, this one I can answer. It’s because our servers are utter shite, the tiniest thing can bring the whole system to a halt. That’s why most of our websites are usually down with no word from us. We are all too busy scratching our heads.

    Luke Kendall, who is justhost for?

    LK: Well we like to think we are for everyone, but mostly we are for people who don’t actually need a website, but want one anyway. That way we get a client who will use pretty much none of our resources, what resources I mean, ha ha, no, but seriously, the less visitors to your site the better. You wouldn’t want us to pull the plug on you would you?

    Luke Kendall, what about all those independent hosting review sites that have you as their number one web hosting company. They can’t be wrong can they?

    LK: Ha ha, well this is just between me and you. We own all those domains. We write the reviews ourselves. We also have many “agents” going around to other review sites, posting phoney comments making us look better than we are. It’s a pretty standard thing to do.

    Luke Kendall, is there anything you would like to add?

    LK: Yes, I may look like a twelve year old boy who doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing, but… oh wait I forget the rest. Oh yeah, choose JustHost.com and if your websites makes it past the month mark, consider yourself lucky.

    Your site claims it takes no longer than 3 minutes to answer a technical support call. The last time I called it took at least 45 minutes! Time is money. I run business.
    We had some technical issues and the last time I personally spoke to one of your technical experts who was rude and unhelpfull at all! Actually I never had such bad experience with any company before.
    We decided to close our account with Just Host and move our sites simewhere else.
    Cancelation was the Seven Circles of Hell! You take cancelation requests only by e-mail. There is no such thing as a billing department where you can call and speak to someone. We sent an e-mail requesting cancelation. A few minutes later we received an automated perponce. Our account has not been cancelled! Instead the link was posted where we had to process cancelation. After a few attempts the account log in was blocked. We had to request “unlocking” access by e-mail. We did so. The automated responce was sent telling us that it was unblocked. We tried to log in again….. too many attempts. We did reset a password. Nothing…. by that time I forgot what I was going to do on a first place.
    Now, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? How much time you expect me to spend canceling my account? I know the answer, as long as it takes and hopefully I will give up…… Go ahead and do your automated charge on 28 january 2010! You will hear from my lawer.

    Hmmm.. some people need new heads….

    I have had no problems. Someone has a problem then don’t get what they think they should (and don’t) deserve they make the above comments.

    The email you receive when you sign up clearly shows a different password for logging into your billing account… duh, read the email.

    A company does not become one of the top 10 hosting companies by being a jerk by canceling streaming accounts and making logging into billing accounts impossible, they are usually ID10t errors. The streaming audio was probably copyrighted in some manner….

    again check yourself before posting the above type of comments. Great host, great features no problems, and yes, I had questions and they answered FAST compared to most other hosts i have had.
