What’s a blog?

So you wanna learn more about blogging. Before you can start blogging, you’ll need to know what’s a blog and how does blogging works.

What’s a blog?

A blog is actually more like a simplified version of website.

The word ‘blog’ original comes from ‘Web Log’; which basically means a web journal/diary. Generally, blog’s entries are displayed in a reverse chronological order where the latest article is placed first. A typical blog combines text, images, video/audio, as well as links to other blogs (blogroll).

So is blog the same with a website?

Theoretically yes. However, one might finds that there are more interactivity between readers and the content publisher in a blog.  As most blogs allow discussion, where readers are allowed to leave individual comments on a particular article; blogging involve more than just writing or publishing web content but readership/community building.

Why blog?

There’re tons of good reasons why blogging turned out to be one of the latest hypes online. To summarize, blogging’s widely used nowadays, mainly because of it is user-friendly (anyone, including non-techie guys, can have their own blogs); a platform for 2 way communication which suits into latest web2.0 development (more interactivity with your audiences); free of charge (yeah, as long as your domain’s ended with a blogspot.com or a wordpress.org extension).
