@JC:
Since you mentioned three *different* websites (means, three different domain names, right?); then yes, you should install three different WP - each in your subdomain folder.

Installing WP shouldn't affect your existing static sites - given that you setup your subdomain properly.

THanks Jerry for this post, which one of the best on the subject I have seen.
I have done several static websites with Xsitepro, uploaded them and voila finished. Now I am completely new to WP platform and I fail to understand if we install only once WP to the host server, or if we do it again for each different website: let say I have 3 very different websites with very different plugins and themes, do I install 3 times WP,one insatallation for each of them, how does it work..I am using Bluehost, and how will that affect my existing static websites already on the server..
Please help me understand..Regards

Jerry, I believe what David Alexander and maybe what linz are asking is this…

If you have a local off-line instalation of Wordpress (and wampserver) and develop a website on your PC (aka localhost), what files or directories from your PC would you need to replace or upload to your webhost (iPage in my case) in order for everything to work. Is this possible? I tried downloading my wordpress files and running them locally on my PC (with wampserver running), which unfortunately didn’t work out that well.

Thanks,
Vyto

I have to actually design a website using design software and then transfer the website to Word Press?” I’m not very sure what you are actually asking for in this question. In term of software/tools requirement, yes you do need at least one or two design tools like Dreamweaver or PHP Zend to make things easier (and faster). So… does that answer your question?

I have been reviwing various "introductory" guides for wordpress beginners and your seems to be a bit more comprehensive. I noticed you were specific in which host you used, perhaps you should be more generic so people using different hosting platforms might understand better?

Cheers
