In this series, here’s the first step by step guide for moving your blog from TypePad to your own hosting.
Step 1: Prepare for the migration
Load few HTML and php pages to make sure that the hosting is stable.
Step 2: Install Blog Software On Your Hosting Account
You can install desired blog software, as supported by your host, but we’ll recommend WordPress as it’s the best platform for newbie as well as experienced users. Customize it with desired look and plugins, and don’t forget to take the backup of your installation, as in case of any uncertainty, you should not redo the things.
Step 3: Export Your Data Directly From Your TypePad Control Panel
- Login to TypePad > Weblogs > Manage > Import/Export
- At the bottom of the page, find the “Export: Your-Blog-Name” link. Download it and save on your desktop with a .txt extension.
