What’s best about Hostgator’s dedicated hosting plans is that you will get a lot for not a lot. A lot of features and services, for not a lot of money.

The differences between dedicated and shared hosting

Let me explain: dedicated web hosting is a completely different world from shared hosting. Dedicated hosting plans are not just about hosting bandwidth (or CPU speeds, or RAM speeds or storage) vs the monthly price: Factors like server specifications, software license fees, backup policy, number of IP covered, technical support coverage, and software (or modules) installation fees are extremely important when it comes to picking-up a cost-effective dedicated hosting plan.

What most dedicated hosting providers will do is to markdown their standard price in order to lure unaware customers. The standard listed price for dedicated hosting plans are normally cheap but cover very few basic features. Once signed up, customers will be charged for additioanl services on top of the ‘standard package’. Sometimes the bill goes up to hundreds dollars per month extra in order to get the website running.

For instance, a $150 dedicated hosting plan might requires $35/mo extra for cPanel/WHM and Fantastico license fee; what follows might be a basic Cisco Firewall for another $99/mo extra; a semi-server management service for $50/mo; $50 per TomCat/Java installation, $5/mo extra for additional IP addresses … and the list goes on and on. What first looks cheap (ranging from $150-$200/mo) turns out to be not that cheap eventually.

(I did not make up these numbers. It took me about 2 weeks to study more than 50 dedicated hosting deals and these are actual figures to be charged when you signup with most of the top dedicated hosting companies.)

But wait and look at the details: All Hostgator dedicated servers are 24/7 managed, equipped with all the necessary software/features (this includes cPanel, Fantastico, Urchin 5, and cart software) as well as at least 5 dedicated IP addresses. No unethical hidden charges, no catch-22, no unwanted surprise when you are running down the road.

Simply said, Hostgator dedicated hosting plans give the best bang for your bucks.

No contract dedicated hosting plan

Hostgator dedicated server hosting runs month-by-month, eliminating the need to be tied down because of a contract (which again, you don’t see often in dedicated hosting market). There’re two things good about this: one, you don’t need to pay a lot of money upfront for your hosting ($180 x 12 is a lot); two, I see the month-to-month policy as a "sign of quality guarantees" (you have to keep performing in order not to lose your customers).

Hostgator Uptime Review

From my record (shared hosting), Hostgator hosting yield over 99.9% in my record. I started tracking their server after setting up this blog and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I see the numbers – 99.93% server uptime. To be frank I knew they are good but I didn’t realise they are THIS GOOD. If what you want is a stable hosting server with fast response speed, and do not mind pay a little extra, then you don’t have to look anywhere beyond Hostgator.

Hostgator – Best Host I’ve Ever Had! "I have been with Hostgator now since 2005 and I cannot speak highly enough of their service, support and professionalism.
